The Location of Delights

Nestled within the heart of Waterdeep’s prosperous Merchant Ward, Legendary Delights is a unique and ideal sanctuary for those whose interest lies with the most exotic. A year prior to its grand opening, Nadja Maharat, a former assassin and rogue blue-blood of Persia’s ruling monarchy, decided that it was time for a bit of change. She had secret passions, one of which was cooking. With some financial aid from a once-close friend she was able to open Delights. Aided by her cousins Ajani and Ajamu, along with her dearest friend Leola Tracadas, she was able to establish a delightful menu and exotic entertainment. The healer and elementalist, Leola, jointly opened her Herbal Legends Apothecary a little ways down, cooperating in tandem with Legendary Delights.

As one comes upon the restaurant, it looks generic enough, with an ornately carved oak door and the fresh sign overhanging, painted with elegant Arabic calligraphy. Two covered lamps burn on either side of the door. Though not particularly remarkable in outward appearance, when one steps inside they are greeted by a pair of handsome twin men who act as waiters and entertainers. Clad in exotic silks and smelling of aromas that echoed of shifting sands and lazy days on the banks of the Nile, they struck a startling appearance to the eye with their charming smiles and the accented lilt in their voices.

“Welcome to Legendary Delights, let’s get you seated.”

As one twin guides you to a seat, the other awaits to take your order, working in tandem with methodical, practiced steps. Instead of tables and booths, as most taverns were prone to having, there is a dazzling array of color, with mahogany, japanned tables; carved within are snippets of literature from various African locations. Lush pillows, some with tassels some without, litter the plush carpeting of the large sitting area. There are various sofas surrounding the sitting area, and before them a large fireplace. Over it hangs the flag of House Maharat and below the flag hang a pair of sheathed, crossed scimitars. The entire establishment is illuminated in soft, golden light from covered lanterns hanging from the high ceiling. Slightly shadowed, across the large, polished wooden floor is a simplistic staircase which lead to the staff’s quarters. Shifting one’s gaze from the staircase to the left, there is a large bar. There are mayhap only twelve stools in all, and there is a petite, dark woman with long silken hair and a friendly smile serving drinks to other guests wile engaging in conversation.

“That is Nadja; she started this place. Would you like to see our menu?”

A menu is handed to you as the older twin (though it is hard to tell who is who unless you know them personally) awaits your orders.
